The barbwire salesman's companion was a man that sat next to him on the train pulled by Locomotive 131. They both had a discussion about the man that the salesman had met the night before, and the woman that left him. When the second man mentioned her name, Clara Clayton overheard and questioned them about Emmett Brown, before she pulled on the emergency brake and stopped the train.
