Mariposa

Mariposa was a town located south of Hill Valley in 2015. It could be seen on a map in the Courthouse Square.

It is likely the same Mariposa as an existing one in California. Back to the Future Part III was filmed primarily in Tuolumne County, California, at a location six miles west of the ghost town of Chinese Camp, California. Mariposa, the county seat of Mariposa County, is roughly 45 miles southeast.
